Chess

The Chess section of SEUA worked with some breaks in the connection with an absence of a staff instructor.

Since 1994 the section has been functioning constantly, what gives the chess students an opportunity to master their sport skills. The chess team of SEUA has always participated in the republican students games and took the prize-winning places. In particular, during the Students’ Games in 2000 both the men’s and women’s teams took the second place losing only to the sportsmen of the Institute of Physical Training.

At different times, the sport honour of SEUA was defended by the first-category sportsmen Arthur Hakobyan, Emil Margaryan, Aram Mnatsakanyan, Grigor Arakelov, Rafael Aghadganyan, Eduard Fatyan, Karen Nersisyan and Hovhannes Bakhtamyan,Hayk Boyajyan,David Melkonyan, Narineh Ahinyan, Lilit Khlghatyan, Victoria Patatyan and Tatevik Aivazyan,Astghik Mkrtchyan. Now, the best chess-players of the section are Vardan Danielyan (Radio Engineering) and Benjamin Galstyan (Power Engineering). The students are trained by Hlghatyan Goar, an international master of sport.
